Role Summary

The Sr. Test Engineer works with other members of the test team to execute system level Powertrain testing supporting Rivian's Vehicle product development process. The activities also include enhancing test facility capability, methodology development and writing automated testing scripts for efficient test execution. From there, automated post-processing, checks on data quality and feedback to the test requester are required.


Responsibilities

  • Perform system level validation testing for Powertrain systems (Drive Unit) (and occasional vehicle testing in lab environment)
  • Develop test methods for electric Powertrain products including, instrumentation and data acquisition setups; assuring high quality and repeatable results
  • Lead the development of new and existing test system capabilities, from requirements definition phase up to deployment and utilization
  • Support other Rivian teams in the generation of Rivian Test Standards, providing technical input on test setups and validation plans
  • Define drive unit and gearbox test profiles and, support the implementation of the test profiles into automated test scripts
  • Troubleshoot testing issues with bespoke test beds and devices under test
  • Analyze test data, write test reports and sign-off for publication
  • Support and lead departmental continuous improvement endeavors

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in a relevant Engineering discipline with minimum 4+ years of experience
  • Experience in testing or developing electric axles and drivetrains
  • Experience with the design, construction, implementation, and validation of electric powertrain test equipment
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis and scripting for automated data analysis tools such as NI DIAdem, CONCERTO and Python is preferred
  • A thorough knowledge of automotive CAN and CAN FD communication, including the ability to create .DBC or FIBEX CAN and database files
  • Experience in configuration, development and maintenance of Veristand test or AVL Puma tests system is preferred
  • Experience in other dynamometer controls systems such as REPS, STARS/SPARC, etc. could be a substitute
  • Ability to work autonomously

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range for California Based Candidates: $98,500.00 - $123,100.00 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
