Scope of Work

Assumes responsibility for evaluating client's need fro music therapy. Plans and executes treatment program in accordance with guidelines outlines by the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). Maintains skills through continuing education. Serves as a clinical resource to peers, team members and client/family. Participates in quality improvement and program development activities. Works in collaboration with other clinicians in planning and providing services. Identifies clients who are appropriate to receive and will benefit from music therapy services. Conducts and documents music therapy assessments. Develops initial and ongoing music therapy treatment strategies involving the client, family members, and other clinicians and staff members as appropriate. Establishes long and short term treatment goals. Provides music therapy treatment in individual, group, and multidisciplinary formats. Schedules clients for music therapy sessions at a frequency appropriate to address the client's goals and the facility/program's needs. Provides timely documentation that accurately reflects the client's response to treatment and progress.

Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA approved program and emphasis in neurologic music therapy required for SHCC and preferred for HDVCH Child Life.
  • 2 years of relevant experience related to music therapy Required
  • Experience working with individuals with neurological injury. Preferred
  • CRT-Board Cert Music Therapist (BC-MT) - CBMT Certification Board for Music Therapist 1 Year required
