HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator II to perform clinical research in conjunction with one or more specified clinical research protocols.

This position will be in support of the Department of Orthopedics & Rehab at the Brooke Army Medical Center, located on JBSA-Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX. The primary study the CRC II will support is a study evaluating if the effect of ankle joint lavage on the risk of post-traumatic arthritis and patient outcomes following high-enery pilon fractures.

Responsibilities

  • Writes protocol applications and consent forms for Institutional Review Boards.
  • Prepares and submits required institution and federal documentation for the conduct of the trial.
  • Manages regulatory issues for all programs upon receipt of IRB approval. This includes preparing any addenda and/or annual progress reports, submitting adverse event/safety information to the IRB, updating/maintaining regulatory requirements such as updated investigator CVs, changes in principal investigator, FDA form 1572, etc. Also, maintains accurate, regulatory-compliant program/study binders.
  • Coordinates efforts involved in the protocol approval process, ensuring accurate completion of the appropriate paperwork prior to study intervention.
  • Responsible for administrative oversight and coordinates communication across study sites.
  • Coordinates all aspects of study activities including participant scheduling, enrollments, and follow ups, as well as data collection, entry, and maintenance.
  • Coordinates with the clinical site investigators to ensure all necessary data is collected during each post-operative clinical appointment.
  • Obtains synovial fluid samples from the operating room and perform the logging, initial processing, and storage of all samples, as well as shipping of samples to a local laboratory for analysis once a complete set of samples has been obtained.
  • Will complete data entry into RedCAP.
  • May require candidate to work outside of the core business hours on an as needed basis.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Physiology, Nursing, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Working knowledge medical terminology.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable federal and military regulations regarding the use of human subjects in research.
  • Must be familiar with Institutional Review Board activities and actions.
  • Must be able to set and meet deadlines.
  • Must have great interpersonal skills.
  • Must be an effective communicator.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a T1/Public Trust background check.

Physical Capabilities

  • Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Ability to stand or sit at a computer for prolonged periods

Work Environment

  • This position will take place primarily in a Clinic setting.

Compensation

  • The annual salary range for this position is $57,650-$70,000. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
