Consumers Energy is Michigan's largest energy provider, providing natural gas and/or electricity to 6.8 million of the state's 10 million residents in all 68 Lower Peninsula counties. Consumers Energy knows job number one is to keep the lights on for customers. We are committed to delivering reliable, clean, and affordable energy to our customers 24/7. Location: This is a hybrid (virtual/onsite) position with required onsite days on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and may be assigned to any Consumers Energy Service Center located throughout Michigan's lower Peninsula. The selected candidate must be within a commutable distance or willing to relocate (relocation package is available for those that qualify). GENERAL SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES This position will specifically serve as a Pilot Manager for active and new pilots that test technology for cost-effective energy efficiency potential along with research initiatives and other pilots deemed to have a business need. The Pilot Manager will provide product and energy efficiency expertise to assess viability and feasibility for potential new customer energy efficiency programs while engaging with key stakeholders to understand the impacts on the customer experience and broader energy efficiency portfolio goals. This position requires contract management, vendor management, stakeholder influence, and internal/external progress reporting for involved stakeholders including state regulators and industry trade groups. Day-to-day, the Pilot Manager will manage ideally 3-5 pilots, likely all involving energy efficiency opportunities for customers unless another business need arises. The Pilot Manager is responsible for ensuring that the pilots objectives are planned and pilot activities progress toward the objectives. This could involve coordination and work with a field implementation team, consultants, Marketing and Communications, Experience Design, our internal program team, regulatory and legal, and leadership. A background in energy efficiency and knowledge of how regulated utilities and utility energy efficiency rebate programs work will set this candidate apart. The Product Manager is responsible for the success of their product, and is a customer advocate, challenging internal beliefs and assumptions, using quantitative and qualitative data to inform choices, and leveraging iterative practices to optimize performance. Utilize skill to harness cross-functional teams including brand, communications, marketing, design, analytics, and channel owners to inform direction and to maximize key performance measures. Responsible for ensuring products are providing high customer value while delivering an exceptional experience that creates brand advocacy, clean energy capacity and drives profitability throughout the product lifecycle.
