Basic Function |
The Coordinator of Mindfulness at Denison University is responsible for developing and implementing a robust mindfulness program that promotes skills for present moment awareness across the university community. The dedicated Coordinator of Mindfulness will design and lead training, programming, and messaging for mindfulness strategy at Denison.
Mindfulness has been shown to reduce stress, increase focus, and positively impact mood and cognition. Despite these benefits, many students identify barriers or lack motivation to apply this practice within their regular daily routines. More wide application of mindfulness into Denison's culture could help prevent many of the mental and emotional barriers that interfere with students' learning and flourishing.
This position will serve as outreach primarily to student communities who may benefit from the practice and who may not yet practice these skills on a regular basis. To the extent that it will benefit students, the Coordinator of Mindfulness may also coordinate efforts with other constituency groups, including faculty and staff.
The position requires that the candidate maintain up-to-date knowledge of current mindfulness curricula and relevant evidence behind mindfulness practices, using this knowledge to create programmatic materials that support best practices. The candidate will be responsible for developing new and supplemental mindfulness programming, including the creation of custom mindfulness programming in collaboration with varying stakeholder groups on-campus.
