We are currently seeking a Coder for Riveredge Hospital. Simply apply to the posting and discuss your interests with the hiring manager if you are selected to come in for an interview.

Under the direction of the Director of Health Information Management, the Coder performs CPT and ICD-10-CM Coding, admission processing, retrieves medical records for upcoming encounters, analyzes and reviews records for completeness, assembles/scans records, and coordinates the follow-up on deficient/delinquent outpatient records.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Performs CPT and ICD-10-CM coding for outpatient encounters; provides leveling expertise to all charge slips.
  • Performs admission processing; retrieves paper charts daily, enters all new patients into computer system.
  • Performs quantitative analysis for completeness on discharge record and coordinates follow-up on delinquent/deficient records to assure compliance with Federal, State and hospital regulations.
  • Performs daily chart reconciliation.
  • Scans paperwork into computer system.
  • Provides quality customer service and maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.

Qualifications

Education/Job Experience/Certification:

  • HS diploma/GED required
  • At least 1-3 years' experience in coding.
  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS-P, CPC, or COC required.

Special Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-10-CM coding, familiarity with DSM 5 coding
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills required.
  • Is open and respectful of cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and is willing and competent to work with a diverse client population
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and a part of a high functioning team
  • Experience and ability to use computers for data entry, communication and report writing.
