Job Summary:

The Director, Global Medical Affairs, External Engagements is a key leadership role responsible for driving the overarching global engagement strategy with the cardiovascular community. This role ensures the alignment of and partnership with opinion leaders, organizations, patient advocacy groups, and professional societies' input with evidence generation, global advisory needs, and strategic initiatives across medical affairs functions. The position is instrumental in shaping external engagement at a global level, ensuring consistency and excellence in execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Global KOL Engagement Strategy:

  • Develop and execute the overarching global KOL engagement strategy and framework to support global evidence generation initiatives, advisory boards, and medical input on strategic priorities.
  • Identify, prioritize, and cultivate relationships with global KOLs, aligning global engagement plan with therapeutic area objectives.
  • Employ novel engagement tactics and platforms aligned with organizational goals
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure insights from KOLs are integrated into evidence generation, publications, and global medical strategies.

Professional Society Engagements:

  • Define and execute a global strategy for engaging with professional societies and key congresses, ensuring alignment with overarching therapeutic area goals.
  • Drive strategic interactions with societies, fostering opportunities for collaboration, such as guideline development, educational and research initiatives, and thought leadership.

Patient Advocacy Groups Engagement:

  • Define and execute a global patient-centric strategy.
  • Drive inclusion of the patient voice in global medical affairs tactical plans.
  • Drive strategic interactions through regional advocacy leads to ensure inclusion and consistency.

Partnerships:

  • Drive innovative partnerships that help enhance the organizational CV footprint

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with Executive leadership, clinical development, market access, and regional medical affairs teams to ensure alignment on external engagement priorities.
  • Liase with and commercial leaders to ensure awareness of medical engagements.
  • Act as the central point of contact for global external engagement initiatives, ensuring consistency and avoiding duplication of efforts.

Compliance and Excellence in Execution:

  • Ensure all external engagement activities are conducted in compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Establish best practices and tools for global external engagement, providing training and support as needed to regional and local medical teams.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a healthcare-related field (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD).
  • 7+ years of experience in medical affairs, with a focus on external engagement or strategic KOL management.
  • Demonstrated success in leading global medical strategies and engaging with global KOLs, professional societies, and healthcare organizations.
  • Strong understanding of the drug development lifecycle and evidence generation process.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across global teams.
  • Deep understanding of compliance requirements and regulatory considerations for external engagement activities.
