Job Summary

Under general direction of the Associate Director, incumbent is responsible for applying social science research techniques to produce reports, infographic, and related work products in furtherance of the JPMC's research and outreach duties. Incumbent will also engage with the community and clients to design, develop, and implement JPMC activities.

  • Collaborates in designing research proposals and grant applications.
  • Works closely with leadership in long-range data planning and management.
  • Develops and applies social science research methodologies and procedures to complex social and behavioral questions.
  • Writes technical reports for clients in the state, county, local, and nonprofit sectors.
  • Collects and interprets primary and secondary data from multiple sources.
  • Develops outreach strategies and engages the community through interviews, mystery shopping, and site visits.
  • Represents the JPMC and FIU at academic and professional conferences through presentations and papers.
  • Assists student assistants and part-time employees with design and completion of assigned tasks.
  • Presents research findings and policy guidance developed by the JPMC to public officials and other decision makers.
  • Conducts quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpretation, to produce actionable recommendations and policy guidance.
  • Assists in pursuing funding, identifying sources, staff and partners; Manages proposal development for state and federal grants
  • Works with leadership to select appropriate databases and software applications.
  • Collaborates with leadership with the management of the U.S. Census Information Center domiciled at the JPMC
  • Serves as project manager in the execution of research projects
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate specialization and four (4) years of experience or Master's degree and two (2) years of experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems.
  • Knowledge of CANVA and related infographic design software.
  • Knowledge of SPSS, SAS, and other statistical packages.
  • Knowledge of state and private sector databases, including proprietary real estate applications.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and related programs.
