About the Position (Brief description of job responsibilities) As part of the Producer Licensing & Oversight Program, this senior-level, paraprofessional position is responsible for protecting consumers and the public interest through the fair and efficient regulation of insurance licensees. This is accomplished by assuming adherence with the laws and regulations of this state for the issuance of initial, renewal, and reinstatement of insurance licenses, and for all licensing processes. This recruitment may be used to establish a qualified pool of candidates for Insurance Technician 3 vacancies in the next sixty days. This is a Washington General Service position. The duties of the position include, but are not limited to: - Researching, analyzing, and evaluating applications for completeness, determining whether the applicant meets the regulatory qualifications to be issued a license.
- Providing authoritative information, guidance, and technical assistance to applicants, licensees, insurers, representatives of the insurance industry, consumers, and other regulatory agencies.
- Monitoring, reviewing, and analyzing the uploaded electronic transactions from NIPR through OIC’s Data Manager reports daily.
- Providing reports.

Required Qualifications: - Two (2) years as an Insurance Technician 1, including one (1) year of clerical and customer service experience.
OR - One (1) year as an Insurance Technician 2, including one (1) year of clerical and customer service experience.
OR - Four (4) years of clerical/office support/customer service* experience in a position providing guidance to inquiries regarding professional processes, procedures, regulations, and other inquiries.
AND - In addition to the above qualifications, competitive candidates must have a “Basic” skill level in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
*Clerical and customer service experience includes duties such as answering multi-line telephones, greeting customers, taking orders, or responding to questions, providing resolution to issues, filing, keeping records, data entry, processing mail, inventorying supplies, checking emails, typing and/or managing schedules or calendars, in an office setting. Preferred/Desired Qualifications: - Associate’s degree or higher.
- Insurance related certification(s) / designation(s).
- Experience reviewing/analyzing/issuing professional licensing applications for compliance with the applicable statutes, regulations, policies, processes, and procedures.
- Experience researching/analyzing/responding clearly and effectively to written or oral inquiries regarding professional licensing, processes, or statutory/regulatory compliance.
- Intermediate or above skill level in Excel, Word, and Outlook.
