Automated Vehicle Maintenance Tech - Buffalo, NY:

An Automated Vehicle Maintenance Tech is a crucial role ensuring the seamless operation of our state-of-the-art cereal plant. You will be the go-to expert for the maintenance and repair of our fleet of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs), playing a vital role in our production efficiency and safety.

Shift hours:

  • 8-hour swing shift schedule - rotation every week
    • 1st shift: 7:00 am to 3:00 pm
    • 2nd shift: 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm Rotation is 1 week on 1st shift, then 1 week on 2nd shift
  • 8-hour steady nights only schedule
    • 3rd shift: 11:00 pm to 7:00 am
  • Able and willing to work any shift schedule needed
  • Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Plant operation is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Pay:

  • $37.70 per hour
    • Additional $.34 per hour for hours worked on 2nd shift
    • Additional $.41 per hour for hours worked on 3rd shift
  • Overtime pay
    • Time worked after 8 hours of work is paid at 1.5 times regular rate of pay
    • Time worked on Saturday is paid at 1.5 times regular rate of pay
    • Time worked on Sunday is paid at 2 times (double pay) regular rate of pay

About our Location:

The Buffalo, NY plant is located on the waterfront, providing convenient access to Canada and major cities like Toronto and New York City. It offers employees opportunities to progress in their careers through seniority-based bidding and apprenticeship programs. The

plant organizes events such as a summer barbecue, a family picnic at a local amusement park during downtime, and a holiday dinner for all three shifts served by the leadership team. There's a strong sense of community and pride among employees, with many having

family ties to the company. Interesting facts include the plant's former name, Cheeri-Oats, the transportation of grain by boat, and a fire that occurred a day before its opening in 1940.

    • Follow all Safety procedures and support all safety initiatives ensuring safety of personnel and safe operation of equipment
    • Provide proactive and reactive maintenance and repair for our AGVs, forklifts, and other mobile lift equipment. This includes troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
    • Diagnose and resolve issues related to PLC controls, motion control systems, HMI interfaces, sensors, and other automation instrumentation
    • Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies and advancements in AGV and PIT maintenance
    • Work effectively with a team of skilled technicians to ensure efficient and safe operations

What you have to offer:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in the repair and maintenance of AGVs and/or PITs. Experience with various makes and models is a plus
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of experience troubleshooting and repairing PLC systems, motion controls, HMI devices, sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics, and lubrication systems. Experience with machine repair is essential
  • A strong understanding working safely in an industrial environment and of industry standard safety regulations and procedures related to AGVs and PITs
  • A proactive and analytical approach to troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. This is a 7-day operation
  • Proficient in both computer hardware, software (ex. Microsoft Office, Outlook, Windows Explorer), and possess working knowledge of Windows

Physical requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
  • Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
  • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
  • Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
  • Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
  • Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment
