Job Description: The senior communications manager for Internal Communications plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing our internal communication strategies. This role is responsible for developing and delivering compelling communications that engage and inform our employees, foster a strong culture of safety and excellence, and support the business goals of the company and division. This role requires a strategic, critical thinker who works to understand the goals, challenges and opportunities of internal stakeholders in order to recommend, develop and execute supporting communications.

Responsibilities:



  • Create and execute internal communication that align with organizational goals and objectives. Lead and manage internal communication campaigns and projects from conception to completion.
  • Produce high-quality content for various internal communication channels.
  • Ensure communications are clear, consistent, and aligned with the company's voice and brand.
  • Coordinate with different departments to gather information and ensure timely, accurate materials.
  • Collaborate with colleagues at various levels, including senior leadership. Act as a trusted advisor to executives on internal communication matters.
  • Collaborate with operations and external communications teams in responding to incidents, managing issues and crisis communications related activities.
  • Collaborate with labor relations counterparts
  • Contribute to a collaborative and innovative team environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of internal communication strategies and campaigns. Use data, feedback and knowledge of evolving best practices to continuously improve communication efforts.



Requirements:

Undergraduate degree or higher in communications, public relations, journalism, mass communication, or related areas.

Minimum of 7 years communication experience in a corporate or agency setting. Experience in railroads or industrials is a plus.

Expertise among many communication disciplines, including media relations, digital media, employee communication, executive communications, marketing communication, issue management and crisis communication.

Demonstrates a high degree of interpersonal and organizational savvy; builds networks and collaborates effectively to influence outcomes and achieve results; comfortable counseling senior executives.

Possesses exceptional oral and written communication skills, and a deep understanding of how to create compelling content through a wide range of mediums.

Exhibits a high comfort level driving action in ambiguous or evolving situations; processes new information quickly and adjusts strategies accordingly; displays situational adaptability.

Drives results with a bias for action and a strong sense of personal accountability.

Possesses excellent professional maturity, sound judgement, good analytical skills and the ability to make quality decisions to protect the company's reputation when necessary.

Possesses the journalistic instincts and creative ability to identify and tell compelling stories that move the business forward.

Proven ability to collaborate effectively with senior company leaders and business peers.

Experience collaborating with labor relations and communicating with a unionized workforce.
