Benchmark is seeking a Contract Specialist to serve on our Legal team in our Fort Wayne, IN office. Review contract terms and conditions to verify that they are in compliance with company policies and all applicable regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review contract terms and conditions to verify that they are in compliance with company policies and all applicable regulations.
  • Research regulations to ensure contracts are in compliance with laws.
  • Examining and/or assessing risks as presented by or in contracts and coming up with suggestions and recommendations through which they can be minimized
  • Provide red-lined recommendations on contracts
  • Clearly explain contract terminology to company staff and other interested parties in simple, everyday language (both in writing and orally).
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across departments and seniority levels.
  • Maintain strong relationships with contract payers and vendors
  • Maintain databases of contracts, certificates of insurance, etc.
  • Serve as a liaison between company and outside contracting representatives
  • Ensure all contracts are signed and delivered to relevant parties
  • Track contracts throughout their lifecycle and extend, renew or terminate them.
  • Draft simple contracts and amendments as necessary (with opportunity for growth)
  • Maintain contract-related documents (including certificates of insurance) and correspondence
  • Maintains confidentiality of contracts
  • Partners with corporate counsel and legal staff to make the contract management process more effective and efficient.
  • Comply with all standards to assure the health and safety of all individuals.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Knowledge of standard office technology and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Accurate and precise attention to detail.
  • Willingness to communicate via telephone as well as electronically

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in law, business, administration or relevant field.
  • Two years of previous experience as a contract specialist/management or in a related position
  • Strong knowledge of contract agreements and legal terminology
  • Research skills (research relevant governmental regulations)
