Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Department of Cell Biology and Physiology conducts cutting-edge, innovative research that advances the discipline of cell biology and physiology, with an emphasis on topics that contribute to the improvement of human health. The UNC Department of Cell Biology and Physiology is internationally recognized for Medical Research. The CBP breadth of investigation is reflected in our interdisciplinary Cell Biology and Physiology Curriculum, which provides a broad, integrated biological foundation and emphasizes rigor, transparency, integrity, and creative scientific reasoning.
Position Summary
The McCauley laboratory is seeking a research technician. The McCauley laboratory uses mouse and human stem cell models to study intestinal physiology. The primary responsibilities of this position include performing routine molecular biology and biochemistry techniques, mouse husbandry, tissue culture, and assisting with the maintenance of laboratory reagents and equipment. This position will also assist with the preparation and maintenance of laboratory protocols, inventory, safety and compliance documents and standards. The ideal candidate will be looking to gain additional research lab experience prior to entering graduate school or medical school.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience with molecular biology, biochemistry, mammalian cell culture, light microscopy, and/or data analysis. Previous animal handling experience.
