Overview

QSC is seeking an experienced and self-motivated electrical engineering technician who is interested in professional audio plus analog and digital circuitry. QSC is one of the world's leading designers and manufacturers of Pro audio powered speakers, mixers and amplifiers and we need a technician to help up move forward. QSC is a friendly and laid-back environment where "work hard, enjoy life" is literally one of the corporate values.

This position location is in the Costa Mesa, California headquarters, and is a hands-on laboratory position that is not eligible for remote work.

The primary duty of the electrical engineering technician is in-depth testing and qualification of QSC products, with an emphasis on power amplifier and power supply circuitry. The technician is also responsible for supporting the engineering staff with prototyping, design troubleshooting, and failure analysis, plus circuit repair and modification. Secondary duties of the engineering technician are test fixture creation and laboratory maintenance.

The engineering technician must have a solid understanding of electronics and electronic circuit troubleshooting. Experience with SMPS power supply circuitry, analog and digital circuitry is required. Understanding of Class-D audio amplifiers is preferred.

Base Salary Range $72,000 - 90,000

The above reflects the pay range that QSC reasonably expects to pay for this role. This pay range also depends on various factors such as job duties and requirements, relevant experience and skills and geographic location. In addition to the base salary range, QSC offers a comprehensive package including but not limited to health benefits, 401K or Roth retirement plans, generous time off and profit sharing

Responsibilities

    Formal test and qualification of QSC products
  • Power and analog circuitry failure analysis, troubleshooting, repair, and modification
  • Prototyping of circuits and design of test fixtures and assemblies
  • Maintain the hardware engineering laboratories at QSC


Qualifications

  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree in ET required, BSET or BSEE preferred
  • 5+ years relevant experience in electronic circuit testing, troubleshooting, and repair, and related test equipment including signal generators, analyzers, oscilloscopes, and multi-meters
  • Excellent troubleshooting and failure analysis skills required
  • Excellent through-hole and SMD soldering skills required
  • Excellent organizational skills required
  • Excellent critical thinking and decision-making skills required
  • Excellent computing skills required
  • Experience reading schematics and PCB layout files required, PCB design experience a plus
  • Ability to produce results in a dynamic work environment required
  • Must be self-motivated in order to achieve assigned objectives with minimal supervision
  • Scripting experience (C++, Python, Lua) a plus
