Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
Carolina Housing is committed to providing convenient housing that is secure, inclusive, and supportive. Students create a home in our on-campus communities, build life-long friendships and develop skills for their current and futures successes as they journey through their Carolina experience. In support of this mission, the department provides a comprehensive campus housing operation for approximately 10,000 residents including business services, residence life and education, family housing, administrative services, housekeeping, maintenance, human resources, marketing, and information technology. Within these operations, over 500 full-time, part-time, and student staff are responsible for 3.1 million square feet of residential space and an annual auxiliary budget of over $70 million. The department receives no State funding, which makes the operation unique in that it must manage both revenue and expense projections and budgets. The department is also dynamic in that it must continuously adjust to changes in student preferences, demand, rate levels, and a changing landscape of construction and renovation, and enrollment growth. Carolina Housing prides itself on being student-centered, data -driven and dedicated to continuous improvement. To that end, the department is amid implementing its five-year strategic plan and in the process of long-term capital planning that is likely to include renovation and new construction.
Position Summary
Carolina Housing operates four independent package centers on campus, where on-campus students can retrieve personal packages mailed from UPS, FedEx, USPS, and other carriers. The Package Center Manager is responsible for independently coordinating and supervising all activities within their assigned package center. This role involves managing the day-to-day operations required to handle, receive, store, and distribute over 200,000 items processed through the package centers annually. The position works closely with all carriers to ensure proper delivery and follows up with each carrier regarding any missing or misdirected packages. The Package Center Manager must be knowledgeable of all Federal mail regulations and train staff to comply with these standards. This position will also serve as a backup to the other package center managers, as needed.

This position will serve as the mail and package expert to support the residents of Carolina Housing and Carolina Housing Staff with any questions or support related to housing and package issues. This position will independently manage and supervise all activities within the assigned package center and create work schedules for 30+ student staff and temporary staff. Position will provide communication with residents on all mail/package related issues and serve as the SC Logic Package Software Administrator to ensure optimal operations and compliance for over 160K packages and 120K letters annually. Summer duties may include the continued management of a Package Center, assisting with the management of summer conference and guest housing, and other functions as needed.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency.
