Essential Duties

    Assembles duct, fittings and hangers using hand tools and power tools. Joins ducts and fittings using screws, bolts, S and drives, flanges, solder, and weld joints. Seals must meet duct testing requirements. Smooths seams, joints, or burred surfaces using files, portable grinders and electric duct hammers. Cuts, glues and pins insulation using pin spotter.
  • Forms round sheet metal fittings, operates plasma tables, operates waterjet machine and other roll forming machines.
  • Studies and interprets shop drawings to determine necessary work to be performed. Utilizes materials provided to produce product with minimum waste and rework. Meets and maintains quality and production standards for all work product.
  • Maintains the work area in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations (should support implementation of 6S). Maintains required personal tools, and properly uses all Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and safety equipment.
  • Ensures proper recording of time spent on individual work orders is accurate. Keeps the shop foreman and other key project personnel aware of all issues affecting production, schedule and cost. Detects and reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the foreman. Notifies supervisor of equipment malfunction, and performs operator based maintenance as required.
  • Provides guidance to less experienced team members as needed.



Minimum Requirements

High School or GED required. Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field preferred.

Certified to operate lifts.

2-5 years of experience

Must be able to operate an overhead crane and specialized machines: duct forming machines, plasma tables, waterjet machine, and press brakes.

Ability to operate Sheet Metal Standard Work Instructions (SWI) 09-0002 -0005, 09-0007-0011, 09-0013-0028, and 09-0031 is required.
