Network Engineer (Program Task Lead) - DOS

Nationwide IT Services (NIS) is seeking a qualified Network/Systems Engineer for a potential opportunity with the Department of State (DOS).
The Network/Systems Engineer
will oversee all activities conducted under the contract, acting as the SME and Task Leader for O&M Network Support, while supporting all NIS staff involved in that task area.

They will work directly with the PM and support the transition-in and transition-out phases. They are expected to be available during standard business hours.

Candidates must have a minimum of ten (10) years of proven experience in managing programs and projects, along with a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in good standing.


The ideal candidate is a self-starter with excellent time-management and problem-solving abilities who thrives in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop -Foster and engineer software solutions from conception to deployment. Evaluate customer requirements and determine the feasibility of existing product reach, potential restrictions, and future development. Work independently while testing all software in a fluid environment, facilitating verification and quality assurance throughout.
  • Coordinate and support-Maintain oversight of our customer service team. Provide ongoing support and maintenance to the customer as needed.Perform systems management and integration functions.
Requirements:
  • Active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI) during the life of this contract.
  • 10 years plus of relevant industry experience.
  • with at least 5 years of hands-on experience with the following technologies, tools, and platforms:
  • Manages and configures network hardware, software, operating systems, and attached devices.
  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation.
  • Designs, installs, maintains, and supports LAN, WAN, video, and VoIP infrastructures.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and develop and implement solutions.
  • Designs, configures and manages network security features for custom networks.
  • Performs preventive and fault isolation maintenance on existing networks.
  • Creates and maintains as-built and other systems drawings (flowcharts, diagrams)
  • Supports operational and maintenance phases for as-built systems.
  • Supports data center operations.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
  • Collaborating with other IT teams and stakeholders
  • Designing, developing, and maintaining cloud-based systems and applications
  • Evaluating and determining the best cloud options for the engineering and development teams
  • Migrating existing on-premises systems and applications to the cloud
  • Debugging and troubleshooting cloud issues and ensuring security and efficiency
  • Interacting with clients and stakeholders to understand their needs and provide cloud support and recommendations.

Technical Skills Required
  • Design, implementation, and support of network infrastructures.
  • Engineering of multiprotocol routers/switches, network security devices and firewalls, and network management systems
  • Good understanding of Networking and Application Security
  • Strong Agile, SDLC, and development process experience
Desired Experience:
  • Two years of Consular Affairs experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is preferred
  • Knowledge of all engineering tools and applications and programming languages
  • Security+ CE
