We are searching for a Laboratory Service Engineer to join our team based in Alderley Park, Manchester, this is a Laboratory based role with occasional support across the wider area as required. In this role, you'll work hands-on with advanced laboratory systems, acting as the face of the company while ensuring customer satisfaction through high-quality service, maintenance, and support.

Role Description

  • Perform onsite service as advised by laboratory personnel in conjunction with our CRM tool. This includes installation, maintenance, and repair of current and future laboratory products.

  • Assist field service teams with installation, maintenance, and repair tasks as needed, focusing primarily on the local area.

  • Provide first-line onsite user training for laboratory systems.

  • Ensure all documentation, circuit diagrams, Service Data Bulletins, and manuals are of the correct revision for the specific instrument types.

  • Maintain ancillary documentation, including the Safety Manual and Procedures Manual, to the highest standard, with regular reviews in accordance with the Quality Management System.

  • Align personal working practices with the department's performance targets and actively demonstrate compliance with all team objectives.

  • Maintain personal service spares and inventory records to the highest standard, quickly resolving any discrepancies.

  • Ensure tools and test equipment are adequate for the required service and that all test equipment is calibrated as per schedule.

  • Complete all Work Orders and associated documentation within one day of completion. Ensure all e-learning, expense claims, and vehicle-related forms are submitted on time.

  • Perform specific and agreed tasks as outlined in the Goal Statements, aligned with the company culture.

Role Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree, HNC, or equivalent in Engineering (preferred). Chemistry or Biology to at least senior school level is also advantageous.

  • Experience:

  • Significant in a related Customer Service/Laboratory repair environment.

  • Experience with genomic systems in a GXP environment is an advantage, though full training will be provided.

  • Strong PC skills, including knowledge of Microsoft OS (XP, 7), networking, and Laboratory Information Systems.

  • Electronics background, ideally gained in a high-tech service environment, with an understanding of analytical and clinical instrument applications.

  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organisational abilities, and the capacity to motivate and engage with customers professionally.

  • Other Requirements: A full driving license and a readiness to travel as needed.
