Job DescriptionPerforms statewide activities associated with virtual, physical and converged server hardware and software and related systems. Responsibilities include implementing and installing virtual machines, upgrades, monitoring system performance, data backups and recovery, disaster recovery, planning, application integration and testing. Will work with key personnel throughout the college system on issues relating to support of end-users as it pertains to responsible areas.

The salary range for this position is $57542.40 - $63296.64 annually.

The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.

Essential Functions

  • Employee will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.

Assist in planning, design, and maintenance of the overall environment for the IT computing infrastructure:

  • Server OS and other systems updates
  • Maintaining tools for automated patching of systems.
  • Maintaining patch logs and systems inventory in ticket management asset tracking.

Monitor systems performance to ensure the most efficient operational standards:

  • Monitor and verify completion of overnight processes.
  • Setup and maintain data and operating system file maintenance procedures including backup/DR.
  • Monitor and adjust capacity utilization for enterprise servers as required.

Create and manage systems automation processes and tasks:

  • Scripting using Powershell, Python, and Linux shell scripts
  • Leveraging other tools for infrastructure as code and related system automation capabilities

Oversee elevated user access and privileges for servers, Active Directory, and Identity and Access Management (IAM) systems:

  • Assist application team as escalation support for issues pertaining to these systems.
  • Assist in the design and building of workflows for systems integrations and automation of user provisioning to connected applications

Provide resolution and documentation of technical and procedural problems:

  • Work with software and hardware vendors to resolve problems with enterprise applications and systems.
  • Coordinate with network specialists and field support for on-site troubleshooting/repair of IT computing infrastructure where required.
  • Provide escalation support and assistance to the IT Enterprise Application Administrators when issues pertain to IT computing infrastructure.
  • Other duties as assigned

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred; 3+ years in a related technical field could be considered in lieu of degree.
  • 1-5 years experience in a higher education setting with Windows and LINUX servers, Backup systems and Virtualization.
  • Experience in identity management.
  • Experience with scripting languages (Powershell, Python, Linux shell scripting).
  • Experience in relational database administration is a plus
  • Experience with public cloud is a plus.
  • Demonstrated strong and positive interpersonal skills.
  • Written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually.
  • Work closely with and at direction of the OIT Lead Engineer
