Columbia University in the City of New York: Columbia University Irving Medical Center: Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons: Surgery Location 02 Open Date Oct 31, 2024 Salary Range or Pay Grade $615,000 to $823,000 annual Description The Department of Surgery is seeking an outstanding Pediatric Surgeon to lead or Division of Pediatric Surgery. This is a unique opportunity to expand the division in a department known for clinical, research, and educational excellence. The Chief of Pediatric Surgery will oversee clinical care throughout the CUIMC/NYP system and provide vision and leadership for our robust clinical research and education activities. The Division of Pediatric Surgery at Columbia has a long and storied history, beginning with Dr Tom Santulli, considered to be the Father of Pediatric Surgery in New York. Subsequently, Drs Peter Altman, Charles Stolar, and Steven Stylianos have led and expanded the influence of the Division. The Division boasts a range and depth of services, with recognized expertise in Fetal Surgery, Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia, Biliary Atresia, ECMO, Esophageal Atresia, Vascular Malformations, Chest Wall Anomalies and many other conditions. The Division provides leadership for American College of Surgeons Verified Level I Pediatric Trauma and Children's Surgical Programs as well as Platinum ECMO Certification and Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence, as well as an ACGME-approved training program and non-ACGME ECMO fellowships. Additional responsibilities include participation in the academic and research missions of the University and the Department of Surgery in accordance with our compliance and excellence in quality care programs, to include active participation in the education medical students, residents and fellows. We seek candidates with excellent communication and leadership skills and an ability to manage an outstanding clinical and research team. Prior administrative experience and demonstrated commitment to training and education are highly valued. The division chief reports directly to the Chair of Surgery. In addition, the candidate may be considered for the Surgeon-in-Chief position at the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital depending on their experience in peri-operative leadership. Qualifications Position requires an MD. Candidate must be Board Certified in Pediatric Surgery and eligible to practice in the states of New York and New Jersey with training and experience to qualify for academic appointment at the Professor level. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience and academic qualifications. Pay Transparency Disclosure:
Salary range is $615,000 to $823,000 annual. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
