Columbia University in the City of New York: Arts and Sciences Core - Interdisciplinary: Columbia Astrophysics Lab Location 01 Open Date Apr 18, 2023 Salary Range or Pay Grade $70,000 - $75,000 Description Columbia University invites applications for an Associate Research Scientist in solar physics at the Columbia Astrophysics Laboratory (CAL). The successful candidate will join the group of Drs. Michael Hahn and Daniel Wolf Savin. Topics of interest include observational studies into the properties of plasma waves in the transition region and corona, the physical processes that accelerate the solar wind from within coronal holes and at their boundaries, and other subjects broadly related to coronal heating and the acceleration of the solar wind. The appointment will be initially for one year with the possibility of renewal contingent upon the availability of funds and satisfactory performance. Qualifications Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Solar Physics, Astrophysics, Physics, Applied Physics, Plasma Physics, or a related discipline is required.
