THE POSITION

The Department of General Services is searching for a HVAC Service Dispatcher (Clerical Assistant 2) for our Harrisburg location. This position supports the Department of General Service managed buildings by monitoring the mechanical systems via software programs and conducting various tasks within the Department's work order system.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Responsibilities of this position include the monitoring of building management software systems for alerts and responds according to predesignated decision criteria. The HVAC Service Dispatcher (Clerical Assistant 2) will provide administrative and communication support for Commonwealth entities and the Department's work order system. Acknowledges, records and creates work orders for alerts received from the building Management systems and for facility issues received from capital police, security or other reporting entities. You will also be required to prepare and format correspondence, reports, forms, and other documents in draft and final form.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Shift Work: Available shifts include: 7:00am to 3:00pm, 3:00pm to 11:00pm, and 11:00pm to 7:00am, Sunday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Travel as required.
  • This position is considered an essential employee who is required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $35,306 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (commonwealth title); or
  • Graduation from high school; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:
  • You must possess a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
  • You must have the ability to work shifts: 1st shift (7:00am-3:00pm), 2nd shift (3:00pm to 11:00pm), and 3rd shift (11:00pm-7:00am)
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
