What you will do:

Analysis



  • Lead and coordinate monthly/quarterly forecasting for the manufacturing center. This includes bottoms-up forecasting & analysis for the group, including identifying key issues, understanding of results, and collaborating with the leadership team on costs and key operational challenges.
  • Proactively monitor evolving market landscape for opportunities to continuously improve mill performance and provide insights into potential optimization strategies and/or develop and recommend proactive countermeasures.
  • Analyze and interpret trends and financial information, including cost metrics, asset optimization, service levels and working capital impacts.


Reporting



  • Research, understand and communicate financial variance drivers.
  • Evaluate mill performance via budget/forecast to actual analysis, material usage, use of comparative and trended data and evaluation of operating ratios.
  • Ad Hoc Analysis -what if scenario planning as well as other analysis that occur through multiple areas of the business (focus on controllable costs, transportation, debottlenecking opportunities to improve productivity - align with scheduling on production planning decisions.
  • Month end/quarter end specific reporting for machine costs at pm & converting, yield, waste, profitability, unplanned downtime vs planned downtown, maintenance costs, etc.


Continuous Improvement



  • Communication at all levels of the site operations.
  • Identify margin/profit opportunities and communicate to marketing, technical, product mgmt., supply chain. and mill leadership.
  • Track, communicate and share in accountability of profit/cost improvement tracking.
  • Work with all business groups at the mill (engineering, warehousing, safety, environmental, ops, fiber group, etc.) to ensure cost effective decisions and strategy.
  • Provide timely accountability metrics for mill business teams.


Budgeting/Forecasting/Planning



  • Provide support to the strategic capital planning process.
  • Provide support and lead the budgeting process for the site for both balance sheet and income statement.
  • Assist and support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial forecasts related to revenue, operating costs, freight, and other supply chain costs for the site.


Corporate Responsibilities



  • Maintain effective system of internal controls for area of responsibility that are validated with audits both externally and internally.
  • Ensure compliance with company financial policies and guidelines.

What you will need:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics or Accounting, required.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in operations and financial analysis required.
  • Proven site level finance leader (3-5 years) in a manufacturing environment, preferably at a tissue, containerboard/corrugated container or paperboard/folding carton site.
  • Collaborative and consultative approach to build process discipline and organization understanding of strategy.
  • Demonstrated relationship building skills with corporate business partners.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word. In Excel, must be proficient with pivot tables, charting, formulas, and working with large data sets.
  • Excellent communication skills conveying complex data in concise manners to broad audiences.
  • Office environment; with limited exposure to manufacturing production mill environment-hot, dusty, humid, noisy, various environmental exposures.
  • Some eye fatigue due to computer use and sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Some domestic travel required (up to 10%).
