DESCRIPTION

Under direct supervision of the clinic manager and the general supervision of the clinic providers and licensed nursing staff, performs work which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations The Joint Commission (TJC). These duties also include but are not limited to: scheduling of patient appointments and associated patient system screens; accurate billing; environmental care functions; equipment/supply management; and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Requires knowledge of medical terminology, online scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics. Position requires initiative, the ability to prioritize demands and the ability to work in a team environment. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Minimum Two (2) years of experience as a MA in an ambulatory medical practice.

  • Requires knowledge of medical terminology, on-line scheduling, universal precautions, and proper use of body mechanics.

  • Must be able to function in a fast-paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.

  • Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.

  • Strong computer literacy.

  • Strong ability to take initiative, prioritize demands and work in a team environment.

  • Experience in a fast-paced, multi-specialty clinic

  • Scheduling experience.

  • Proven knowledge of the patient flow process in order to efficiently monitor appointments, patients and available physicians.

  • Ability to work as a team member.

  • Ability to be flexible with varying demands in a small specialty clinic.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Five (5) years of recent experienced as an MA.
  • Medication prior authorization experience.
  • Experience with EPIC and Cadence module.
  • Experience managing EPIC InBasket.
  • Experience working with vulnerable patient populations
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $57,671 - $57,671 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $27.62 - $27.62

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
