We are seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to design and implement IT system solutions, ensuring system security, compliance with relevant standards, and managing system performance and availability. The ideal candidate will provide leadership across two teams-Core Infrastructure and Cloud Migration-and collaborate with other engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions. This role will involve supervising staff, coordinating support tasks, and overseeing system-related incident response and troubleshooting.



Job Description

    Lead a team ensuring smooth operations and collaboration across functions.
  • Coordinate support tasks across all Systems Engineering and Architecture efforts, including System Engineering, Requirements Analysis, and complex System Design in support of the Defensive Cyber Mission.
  • Provide documentation and support for strategy customers, specifically for the Build-Out and Migration of architecture to AWS GovCloud.
  • Develop and maintain roadmaps for IT Systems and Applications transitioning to AWS Cloud.
  • Support the Cloud Team by deploying and maintaining EC2 instances, EBS volumes, creating AMIs, implementing backups, creating policies, and integrating automation processes where applicable.
  • Participate in daily Cloud standup meetings to ensure project alignment and team communication.
  • Analyze system engineers' input to develop system information requirements for large-scale, enterprise-wide information systems.
  • Work closely with the user community to determine and identify functional and technical requirements based on interactions and knowledge of enterprise architecture.
  • Assess and present potential options to meet functional and technical requirements, including hardware and software upgrades.
  • Develop high-level system design diagrams to ensure clarity and alignment with architectural goals.
  • Ensure all operating environments remain compliant with relevant security, regulatory, and operational standards.
  • Analyze and address workflow, operation, and planning issues, providing appropriate corrective actions to maintain system integrity and performance.


Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum Security Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in network engineering with at least 3 years in a leadership or lead role.
  • Proven experience in Systems Engineering, with a strong focus on IT systems design, security, and compliance.
  • Strong leadership experience, with the ability to supervise and coordinate multiple teams across varied disciplines (System Administration, Network Administration, Desktop Support).
  • Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS and AWS GovCloud environments.
  • Expertise in managing and deploying cloud services such as EC2 instances, EBS volumes, AMIs, and backups.
  • Familiarity with automation tools and techniques to streamline cloud operations and system maintenance.
  • In-depth understanding of system architecture and design principles, particularly in large-scale, enterprise environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for system-related incidents.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both technical teams and customer stakeholders.
  • Experience developing roadmaps for IT systems and applications transitioning to cloud environments.
