JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:

The Production Planner is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating detailed phases of shipyard projects. They play a crucial role in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the quality standards required. The Production Planner works closely with support departments in the areas of Estimating Support, QA, and Safety to ensure adequacy and quality of required project support. The Production Planner is an integral member of the Production Team who supports a strong culture of organizational discipline in the planning and execution of projects.

Essential Functions:



  1. Review and interpret detailed production schedules for shipyard projects, including repair, maintenance, and construction activities.
  2. Coordinate with production managers, engineers, and other departments to ensure resources are allocated appropriately based off the scope of work.
  3. Review work packages, identify LLTM and procure needed materials ISO contractual dates.
  4. Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure materials and equipment are available as needed.
  5. Conduct site visits and attend project meetings to stay informed about project status and requirements.
  6. Assist in preparing production reports.
  7. Implement best practices in production planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
  8. Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  9. Develops Risk Inventories and assessments from previous Lessons Learned.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. Strong understanding of shipbuilding processes and techniques.
  2. Ability to effectively receive and provide guidance from and to others respectively.
  3. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers.
  4. Ability to effectively receive and provide guidance from and to others respectively.
  5. Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  7. Proficient in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project) and MS Office Suite.
  8. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  9. Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with various departments.
  10. Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  11. Proven experience in production planning, preferably in a shipyard or maritime environment.
  12. Five to seven years related to marine, shipyard, or industrial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  13. Must be able to gain access to military installations.

Must be able to tour all vessels, piers, docks, and work sites to perform the duties of this job. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus. (Ability to view computer monitors without eye strain for extended periods of time).

The role may involve spending time in both office and shipyard environments, with occasional exposure to outdoor conditions and physical activities associated with shipyard work.
