Wieland is hiring a Safety Coordinator. The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for all safety administration, training and compliance and drive the Wieland Safety culture and Core Values. This role is located in Reading, PA and will be fully on-site.



Responsibilities

Safety Coordinator Responsibilities:

    Implement and maintain a safety program aligned to OSHA and Company guidelines. Ensure that systems, controls, documentation and above all, attitudes are consistent with a "Safety First" culture.
  • Utilize and manage the Learning and Development systems and coordinate safety training compliance.
  • Maintain a safe environment calling out engineering opportunities and use of PPE
  • Assist in researching safety technologies and implementation through procedures.
  • Administers safety management system by managing and distributing alerts and collects and maintains all other safety documentation "Safety Data Sheets" .
  • Conduct analyses of occupational incidents, injuries, property damage, hazard reports and near misses, PSIF, as part of a regular compliance safety review.
  • Identify, evaluate, and assist in correcting health and safety hazards.
  • Provide guidance and assistance in performing risk assessments of work/processes.
  • Provide training and materials assistance to ensure safe and healthful work practices.
  • Analyze injury and illness reports and monitor data for trends.
  • Assist in incident/accident investigations.
  • Monitor compliance with the safety management system including health and safety statutes and regulations and organizational health and safety policies, programs, and guidelines.
  • Note instances of noncompliance, and recommend improvements in the safety management system
  • Sit on safety committee and add guidance on compliance rules.
  • Solicit employee opinion on selecting certain PPE, Training topics, etc.
  • Recruit employees to conduct area inspections for Reading site.
  • Member of the First Aid Team
  • Coordinate monthly checklist inspections and training for Reading site.
  • Build 5S initiative on the plant floor.
  • Weekly plant cleanliness checks.

Safety Coordinator Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of safety experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent safety, health, and ergonomic administrative experience or other equivalent degree preferred.
  • Experience with the application of safety, health, and ergonomic management in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Familiar with 5S practice and principles.
  • Excellent organization and follow-through skills.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Able to prioritize multiple projects and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented and recognize importance of accuracy and timeliness in completing tasks.
  • Recognize the importance of confidentiality in handling employee information and records.
  • Ability to conduct multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Provide services with a high level of integrity.
  • Ensure work is in compliance with Wieland policies and professional standards.
  • Meet or exceed Wieland's requirements relating to deadlines and attendance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization as well as customers and vendors.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management.
  • Perform other duties/functions as directed by management.
