As a Sr Buyer/Planner supporting Supply Chain Team you will be trusted to provide long-term supply chain strategies and networks that address capacity issues and production location decisions in support of business goals at Fort Worth, Texas in US.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish material requirements for assigned business unit, place orders from external suppliers, and ensure timely receipt of materials to meet production plans. In addition, coordinate production scheduling based on material availability and manage product obsolescence.

  • Optimize procurement activities to ensure materials availability while minimizing inventory costs.

  • Minimize the total cost of purchased materials.

  • Ensure prompt disposition of defective materials, including excess and obsolete, and ordering the optimum quantity of materials on time.

  • Participate in CIP activities to obtain the best value for Alcon.

  • Monitor and manage delivery of raw materials to assure or eliminate production downtime.

  • Maintain MRP parameters such as safety stock, safety lead time, lot sizing and other order parameters, and adjust future materials plans to minimize inventory while maintaining required customer service levels.

  • Maintain accurate manufacturing system data to ensure customer service levels and inventory costs are not impacted by data integrity problems, as well as overall compliance with all Quality and Regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in new product launch teams as both an OP's and Materials representative and ensure components are procured and production builds are issued to meet product release schedules.

  • Evaluate proposed ECNs and product phaseouts, and establish appropriate plans to minimize implementation and/or phaseout costs, consistent with the requirements of the plan.

  • Keep work areas clean and free of hazards or dangerous conditions and work safely.

  • Perform and document routine assessments of area to identify/confirm ongoing compliance to safety and housekeeping requirements.

  • Define material requirements that support the production schedule.

  • Analyze and act on MRP suggested actions to schedule purchased material in accordance with inventory policy, to assure continuous availability and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.

  • Improve the speed and accuracy of buying and planning processes.

  • Collaborate with coworkers to meet business objectives and enhance team capability.

  • Develop personal knowledge and skill, continuously learn, and complete all required training.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +10 yrs; Assoc.+6 yrs; M.S.+0yrs)

  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

  • 2 Years of Relevant Experience

  • Work hours: Business Exempt: Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm

  • Travel Requirements: 0 to 10% Domestically
