THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation, Butler County Maintenance Office is seeking a hard-working Highway Foreman 2 to supervise the work of a general highway maintenance crew performing manual labor and operating heavy equipment to perform standard or routine maintenance and repair operations on or around assigned highways. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for various maintenance functions, which encompass the organization of materials, traffic management, equipment readiness, and staff coordination. You will assess the skill level of subordinate personnel and provide suggestions for required training and opportunities for enhancing overall performance.

You will supervise a general highway maintenance team performing manual labor and the operation of heavy machinery to execute routine maintenance and repair tasks on or near designated highways. This responsibility entails continuous planning, implementation, and completion of all stages of a project or assignment throughout the year.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Travel, overtime, and shift work required. Work hours subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $51,932.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1; or
  • Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirement:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License.
Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
