DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This role involves overseeing policies, conducting research, and performing analyses. You will advise the Policy Director on regulatory matters, evaluate and create proposals, and explore management options. Additionally, you will compile reports for the Policy Director based on discussions from various meetings, highlighting key issues and potential controversies that may need executive review. You will also decide which matters from these meetings should be escalated to the Policy Director's attention. Your responsibilities include reviewing regulations, technical guidance, and permits for specific program areas, providing feedback on their clarity, effectiveness, and compliance with the Governor's Executive Order 1996-1. It is crucial to report any policy issues related to draft regulations to the Policy Director. Moreover, you will analyze the effects of proposed state and federal legislation on various issues and assess how these legislative actions impact existing Department policies and programs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as an Executive Policy Specialist 1; or
  • Four years of policy analysis and planning experience; and a bachelor's degree in policy analysis and planning, public administration, or a closely related field; or
  • Two years of policy analysis and planning experience; and a master's degree in policy analysis and planning, public administration, or a closely related field; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
