THE POSITION

We seek a talented individual to conduct critical safety inspections of bridges, oversee the approval and inspection of highway occupancy construction, and manage materials inspection activities for our engineering district. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor, you will lead as the inspector-in-charge on highway construction projects, focusing on work operations or assisting larger projects by supervising specific tasks. Your role will involve ensuring compliance with contract requirements and standards by accurately interpreting specifications for contractors and team members.

You will oversee sample collection, conduct testing, and apply effective inspection techniques to resolve field challenges promptly. Your expertise in interpreting designs and plans will address discrepancies and ensure timely project completion. Additionally, you will prepare and submit work orders and construction estimates while maintaining meticulous records of material certifications. You will also assist the assistant construction manager or engineer in making informed decisions regarding changes to plans, quantities, methods, and completion dates, driving successful project outcomes.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Schedule may be subject to change due to seasonal and operational needs.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time on a limited ad-hoc basis. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bridgeville.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $50,836 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector; or
  • Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:
  • This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
