DESCRIPTION OF WORK
-
As a Corrections Locksmith, you will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of mechanically, electronically, and pneumatically controlled equipment used to open, close, and lock doors and gates. Your duties will include installing, maintaining, and repairing new, existing, or inoperable locks and associated mechanisms. You will perform routine and preventative maintenance checks to ensure equipment is operating properly. You can expect to produce original and duplicate keys from blanks, log broken and damaged keys, and make necessary adjustments to master and issued key sets. Additionally, you will oversee inmates in the performance of non-security related tasks, such as moving materials, hanging doors, and repairing door closures. - Full-time employment, 40 hours per week.
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $46,986 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in the locksmith trade; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
