DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Air Quality Engineering Trainee, you will embark on a comprehensive one-year training program combining formal education and hands-on experience. This program will equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel as an Air Quality Engineering Specialist.
You will be assigned to the Southcentral Region, where you will report directly to the Chief of the Facilities Permitting Section within the Air Quality Program. In this role, you will conduct essential air quality engineering work, including the review of plan approvals, operating permit applications, and other significant projects. Your efforts will ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and policies, effectively protecting public health and safety. Additionally, you will make technical recommendations for agency actions concerning air contamination sources at your assigned facilities. Interested in learning more? - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Travel will be required for site visits
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $64,861 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of engineering experience, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- A bachelor's degree in the field of engineering.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position will require possession of a valid Pennsylvania driver's license.
Other Requirements:
