As a member of our high-performing Investments Team, you will be relied upon as a key partner to perform due diligence research, financial modeling, and investment decision-making. You will also have opportunities to interact with senior Investments staff and receive cross-asset learning opportunities. The Mortgage/Real Estate Investment Team is responsible for managing over $21 billion of investments on behalf of State Farm. Real estate investments are primarily focused on multifamily, industrial, and construction mortgage loans, as well as directly-owned real estate equity investments and REIT securities. Investments are originated and managed by geographically-focused mortgage teams and dedicated real estate equity and REIT teams. Processes and systems support disciplined underwriting, an expansive sourcing network, and diligent asset management. State Farm is a relationship-orientated lender and equity capital investor with a well-established and growing commercial real estate platform.

This position is based at State Farm's growing investment platform at CityLine in Richardson, Texas, in the fast-growing Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. This position is eligible for relocation benefits. The Investments Department operates a hybrid schedule with three in-office days per week to foster collaboration.



Responsibilities

  • Source, underwrite, conduct due diligence, and close commercial real estate acquisitions, development opportunities, and mortgage loan originations
  • Prepare and present investment recommendations to senior leadership for investment selection and approval
  • Analyze and evaluate economic data, local market research, property comparables, and tenant financial information to support decisions and evaluate risk
  • Asset management responsibilities including leasing, loan surveillance, development of business plans and property valuations
  • Travel to assigned markets to build relationships with real estate developers, investors, and brokers, and to conduct property inspections for existing and potential investments
  • Perform an integral role in identifying market trends and developing insights for the portfolio, and contributing to market commentary
  • Collaborate with colleagues across investment asset classes to share information, expertise, and ideas


Qualifications

  • MBA or undergraduate degree in real estate, finance, accounting, economics or related field, with strong academic achievement
  • 2 - 5 years of relevant experience
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and risk assessment skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, as well as operate independently
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including the ability to create, build, and maintain relationships with internal and external parties
  • Excellent influencing, problem solving, and communication skills
  • Strong prioritization, time management, and organizational skills to meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • Knowledge of real estate valuation methodologies; Argus experience is preferred
  • Desire to continuously learn and develop and put developed expertise into action
