Summary

The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) Facilities Engineering & Capital Projects Department is excited to announce several design and construction projects for Summer 2025. We are seeking enthusiastic students for a 12-14 week Summer Internship. These projects vary in size and complexity and include science laboratory renovations, office renovations, new buildings, and other projects. Most projects for Summer 2025 will be architectural-based but may also include civil, mechanical, or electrical projects.

About Your JAX Internship Experience

Join peers selected from educational institutions across the country for a summer of professional growth and career exploration. As a JAX Intern, you will receive a dedicated mentor in your department and connect with your fellow interns through JAX-sponsored activities.

The ideal start date for this position is mid-May - mid-August. Work hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4 pm ET

What You'll Contribute

  • Assist with various projects by supporting project managers in gathering site conditions information, organizing meetings, and creating standards for different topics.
  • Assist the JAX construction superintendents including documentation of observed conditions and assistance with testing and evaluations.
  • Research projects and documentation, filing and general administrative efforts.
  • Other duties will include smaller projects as assigned.

What You're Good At

JAX encourages applications from diverse educational backgrounds and experiences. Preferred qualifications include:

  • Completed sophomore year and pursuing a Bachelor's degree in one of the following majors: architecture, construction management, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, civil engineering, structural engineering, or similar. Prior work experience may be substituted.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills required. Basic computer graphic skills desired.
  • Must be reliable, responsible, organized, and professional.
  • Ability to work independently on routine work as well as on assigned special projects required.
  • Experience reading blueprints and using AutoCAD or Revit preferred.
  • Availability to work early in the morning, evenings and/or weekends on occasion is preferred.

The hourly pay rate is $20.00
