About the Role: We are looking for a Statistician / Data Scientist to join our GPS Computational Analytics Team. In this role, you will be providing statistical consulting and support for the Technical function in the GPS Eastern cluster and collaborating on cross-functional teams.

This position will be located at our facility in Elkton, Maryland, with the possibility of a hybrid remote work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs.

Pay and Benefits:

  • Roles above $150k are eligible for the variable pay program each fiscal year, based on defined business performance metrics.

Responsibilities:



  • Collaborate with a wide variety of individuals and small teams across the business units, while providing primary support for engineers, scientists and business leaders
  • Collaborate with other statisticians and Simulation analysts of the GPS Computational Analytics team
  • Collaborate with other statisticians in the Eastern cluster
  • Provide experimental design guidance and statistical analysis of engineering data
  • Use and support JMP software
  • Explore opportunities to extend the use of statistical methods, both in more teams and using innovative tools like, e.g., machine learning
  • Present and teach statistical concepts and tools to Gore Associates

Required Qualifications:



  • Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, or related field and a minimum of 2 years experience working in a technical role or a PhD in these fields
  • Excellent Communication and presentation skills
  • High interest in exploring new statistical methodology in existing or new fields of application
  • Familiarity with JMP software
  • Ability to effectively partner, collaborate and consult with individuals and teams
  • Ability to travel up to 10%



Desired Qualifications:



  • Minimum of 2 years experience as an industrial statistician or DoE
  • Experience in adults teaching
  • Experience in AI, machine learning, and advanced statistical methods
