Will need to sign up for weekend calls and holidays based on schedule and operational needs.

Position Summary:

Under the direct supervision of a Lead/Supervisor assists staff Anesthesiologists in preparing and performing a variety of anesthesia preparations and procedures in the operating rooms and in remote anesthetizing locations. Acts as a member of the Anesthesia team by preparing the patient / machine interface for the delivery of anesthesia and the management of the patient during surgery. Under supervision assists in the sterile and aseptic preparation of the patient for the placement of pulmonary artery, central venous and, arterial and venous monitoring lines. Maintain all anesthesia equipment, instruments and supplies before, during, and after the operative procedure. Provide prompt, courteous customer support, including but not limited to the dependable diagnosis of simple equipment failures and malfunctions and support hospital intubation program (within and outside the operating rooms). Obtains physiologic samples for analysis, obtains physiologic readings by using invasive monitors and provides data to the anesthesia team responsible for the Critical Care Management of the patient during the surgical process. Performs all duties under the direction of the Leads/Supervisor/Manager or anesthesia providers. Promotion to CCT II will solely be based on job knowledge and performance. Key point: The Technician will work to ensure the delivery of safe and efficient patient care through their actions and with the scope of their practice.

Education/Experience Track 1: High school diploma or GED required. Successful completion of allied health certification (i.e. CMA, CNA, EMT, etc.) or a minimum of one year of pre-professional health degree track with sciences concentration.

Education/Experience Track 2: High school diploma or GED required. Minimum one year experience in OR/ICU/PACU setting. OR a pre-professional clinical internship

Preferred: EMT, EMT-B, EMT- P, and/or a HS pre-professional clinical internship (approved by Manager), or College, and/or a college with pre nursing, PA, med, or pharmacy intent

Licensure/Certification:

BLS required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:




  • Life support techniques and theory, electrocardiograms, airway support devices, peripheral line access devices, pressure waveforms, and cardiac output measurement.
  • Physiologic monitoring devices and techniques.
  • Sterile and aseptic technique.
  • Medical terminology as attained through allied health or medical training, or completion of medical terminology course.
  • Patient care procedures related to administration of anesthesia and care of the anesthetized patient.
  • To interpret physiologic monitoring parameters during the application of these devices.
  • All ancillary equipment used in the operative care of the anesthetized patient and performs all duties as outlined in the Departmental guideline manual and obtained through work experience.
  • Set up and operation of physiologic monitoring equipment as per departmental guidelines.
  • Troubleshooting equipment failures.
  • Interpreting and communicating abnormal waveforms present on vital sign monitors and laboratory results.
  • Organizing and summarizing information.
  • Assists the physician or CRNA in the care and management of the anesthetized patient.
  • Anticipating physician needs during routine and emergency situations.
  • Requires effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills to establish working relationships with co-workers and physicians and other health care personnel that optimize patient care.
  • Ability to work independently and under stressful conditions.
  • Knowledge and ability to understand and utilize decontamination techniques such as pasteurization, glutaraldehyde, steam sterilization, and high level disinfection and other forms of decontaminiation and sterilization used in the care of Anesthesia equipment.
  • Understands basic and proper mechanical function of anesthesia circuits and machines and similar equipment as it relates to patient care in the operating room.
  • Refines skills at multitasking and prioritizing.
  • Refines capacity to work in all ACCM areas
