Overview

This is a remote role that may only be hired in locations along the East Coast.

As a risk professional, this position acts as a subject matter expert and is responsible for the support and execution of various risk programs and activities within 2nd line Risk Management (the Business Unit, or BU), adhering to the Bank's Risk Appetite and Corporate Strategy. This role is response for partnering with the BU in management of risks and controls across all risk types. Facilitates and/or monitors execution of risk policies, standards, procedures and/or program requirements. Serves as an effective communication channel between the Risk Management Department, regulators, and FCB stakeholders. Influences cross-functionally without direct authority. May oversee the work of others and/or act as a mentor.


Responsibilities

  • Risk & Controls Knowledge and Expertise - Demonstrates an expert understanding of the complexities inherent in the organization's business environment, including industry markets, products, services, client-base and competitive landscape. Interprets business trends and drivers to identify and communicate underlying patterns, interdependencies and emerging opportunities and risks. Partners with cross-functional teams to assess the impact of external factors including regulatory changes, market disruptions or business operations and strategy.
  • Risk Program Execution - Oversees the BU's risk management framework and composition and regular maintenance of policies, standards and procedures that support risk program execution. Leads risk assessments to evaluate and manages key risks across the BU. Manages book of work to identify gaps and assess capacity, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and prioritization of risk management initiatives. Leads the tracking and resolution of issues across the organization, ensuring timely escalation and remediation. Oversees the status of effectiveness of issue remediation efforts and the production of regular metric-focused and thematic updates and reports to senior management. Partners with other functions (i.e. Compliance, 2LOD) to ensure alignment with broader risk management and governance objectives.
  • Regulatory Engagement - Participates in regulatory inquires, examinations, and audits in collaboration with internal stakeholders. Coordinates regulatory submissions, response, and report requirements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely submission. Monitors regulatory developments and findings and assesses their potential impact on the organization's risk profile and regulatory compliance.
  • Risk Governance & Reporting - Design and implement risk reporting frameworks, dashboards and metrics to provide senior management with timely and actionable insights into risk profile and risk management activities. Manage the production of regular risk reports and presentations that summarizes key risk indicators, risk trends, emerging risks, and risk mitigation efforts for financial and non-financial risk stripes. Oversee the effectiveness of risk reporting processes and tools, identifying areas of optimization. Facilitate governance (i.e. Forums) and communication routines with the BU team to ensure appropriate distribution of risk program related information.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years of experience in Financial Services, First Line Risk Management, Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk OR High School Diploma or GED and 12 years of experience in Financial Services, First Line Risk Management, Enterprise Risk or Operational Risk

Preferred Area of Study: Finance or Risk ManagementPreferred Area of Experience: Project Management or Internal/External ConsultingLicense or Certification Type: CRCM, PMP, CERP, CAMS; ISACA CISA, ISACA CRISC PreferredSkill(s): Knowledge of risk techniques, practices, and control frameworks, Knowledge of various banking and government regulatory requirements and processes, Knowledge of regulatory guidance pertaining to enterprise risk and operational risk, Ability to work effectively with associates, senior management, and various committees

The base pay for this position is generally between $156,000 to $220,000. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
