Position:Sr. Application Performance Management (APM) Specialist - (New Relic)

Location:Wayne, PA (Telecommuting Permitted)

Description of work to be performed:

Interact with team to administer guidance for existing monitoring solutions and work with stakeholders to plan the implementation of code solutions. Guide team with knowledge in New Relic, one of several On-prem / Cloud tools used at Radian Guaranty Inc. to monitor the health of applications Radian uses to assure availability to outside and internal clients, and third-party monitoring solutions to close the identified monitoring gaps. Offer guidance to New Relic and third party APM tools, to collect and identify relevant application, infrastructure, log, database, cloud, and telemetry data for end user consumed SaaS applications. Troubleshoot any problem that arise with New Relic and third party APM tool functionality and create actionable alerts based on best practices and ad-hoc requests from application SMEs. Assist in a cohesive structured analysis related to the root cause of prior incidents impacting the customer. Use customer requirements to create custom visualizations using centralized data lake and the custom-building tools like NRQL. Produce application performance report to business to analyze the weekly performance of the applications. Deliver support to SMEs for New Relic architecture design for production, non-production, and cloud environments. Assist in analysis of issues in-depth in New Relic APM tool functionality to find the root cause of the issues in applications and OS environments. Create custom visualizations (Dashboards) using centralized data lake and custom-building tool like NRQL. Design and implement alerts tailored to specific SMEs requirements, enabling proactive monitoring and issue resolution. Utilize New Relic logs to perform comprehensive log analysis, identify patterns, and proactively address potential performance issues, resource consuming and bottleneck applications. Create custom business transactions to capture argument and session attributes. Create and configure standard dashboards to monitor application availability, page response times, script bottlenecks, CPU, memory utilization across web pages, etc. Setup thresholds, alerts, rules, alert muting, troubleshoot and resolve any data mismatches in New Relic. Provide on-demand weekly performance reports from New Relic tool for performance analysis of applications. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

Qualifications / Requirements:

Bachelor's degree, or foreign degree equivalent, in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and 5 years of progressively responsible post bachelor's degree-related experience. In the alternative, the employer will accept a master's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field and 3 years of related experience. The position also requires 3 years of knowledge of the New Relic UI and the monitoring tools provided by New Relic and knowledge to apply these tools in various topologies. (On-prem, Hybrid, Cloud (AWS, Azure). 3 years of expert knowledge of New Relic's features as they apply to End-to-End business transaction tracing in a distributed environment, with invasive(New Relic API) and passive methods (New Relic Logging). 3 years Implement APM, Synthetic, Infrastructure, Logging, and Browser alerts in New Relic and send them to a wide variety of destinations for both automated and manual triage. 3 years working with support teams to troubleshoot customer impacting incidents using APM solutions in real-time. Telecommuting permitted. When not telecommuting, must report at Radian Guaranty Inc., Wayne, PA. <10% travel required.
