Additive Manufacturing Engineer

Key Role:

Provide additive manufacturing (AM) engineering to support our clients in the Army. Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of AM programs, including research and development (R&D) projects, pilot initiatives, and technology demonstrations. Support and assist with project schedules, budgets, milestones, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with organizational and stakeholder goals. Drive the development and optimization of AM processes, materials, and designs with a focus on innovation and scalability. Evaluate and implement AM technologies with a focus on metal AM systems for defense applications. Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams, external partners, and industry stakeholders. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams to ensure program objectives are met on time and within scope. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Develop and execute strategies to achieve long-term organizational goals in AM.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in additive manufacturing, including hands-on engineering and leadership roles

  • Experience managing large-scale R&D programs or multi-partner initiatives, including in AM or advanced manufacturing

  • Knowledge of AM technologies, materials, and processes, including LPBF, Wire and Powder DED, or AFSD

  • Ability to manage complex budgets and resource allocation effectively

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or Manufacturing

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with CAD, CAM, and simulation tools used in AM design and analysis

  • Experience with project management methodologies and tools, including Agile or Microsoft Project

  • Experience with industrial AM applications in highly regulated industries such as aerospace or defense

  • Experience working with government-funded initiatives

  • Knowledge of quality control and standards related to AM, including ASTM or ISO

  • Possession of excellent organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills

  • Possession of excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement abilities

  • Possession of excellent leadership and team-building skills in dynamic, cross-functional environments

  • Master's degree

  • PMP Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $84,600.00 to $193,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
