Essential Job Functions

  • Perform the posting process in Banner for various journal entries including but not limited to campus journal entries, internal sales, and auxiliary billing feeds, organize and file the supporting documentation, and monitor the journal entry archiving process.
  • Review reports daily for incomplete entries, general and trial balance ledger exceptions, organization and program errors, and bank default exceptions. Contact the appropriate department(s) for any issues and/or exceptions and continue to monitor to ensure all errors and exceptions have been properly resolved.
  • Run the month end reports in WebFocus and Banner ensuring that reports have been published to Eprint and reporting any errors or issues to the appropriate department(s).
  • Run the Flex matching charges process to pull the data into the Banner system and submit the payment to the NC Office of the State Controller via NCFS cash transfer transmittal form.
  • Perform other routine accounting tasks (following provided checklists or instructions) and administrative duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Required for this Position

  • This position requires a good understanding of financial accounting, attention to details and ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to logically and clearly communicate basic accounting issues and recommended solutions with managers and campus departments.
  • Ability to perform basic accounting and tax research.
  • Ability to administer policies, procedures, and business processes related to assigned job duties.
  • Proficient in MS Office and Google Workspace apps.
  • Knowledge of financial systems and software packages.

Preferred Qualifications
Associate degree in Accounting with higher Ed accounting working experience.

Required Functional Competencies to Successfully Perform Job Duties.
Financial Program Monitoring & Management: Verify and ensure accuracy and validity of moderately complex transactions and examine accounting records to assure adherence to accounting standards and regulations. (Examples: variety of funding sources with different reporting cycles and standards; re-investment of funds and accountability for the more complex funding sources) Supervise a financial function of moderate complexity Maintain and manage accounting records of moderate variety and complexity, including preparation of financial statements and reports. (Examples: Research, compile, and analyze information; prepare statistics; write/draft reports; make recommendations for resolution)

Knowledge-Technical:
Apply thorough knowledge of a government accounting methods, procedures and accounting practices. May have basic knowledge of the principles of a specialized accounting field or program. Apply the knowledge of a broad range of technology, financial systems and packages. Develop formula for complex spreadsheets; set up automated procedures and resolve operational issues of software/hardware.

Problem Solving: Resolve programmatic and financial problems of considerable complexity requiring research, analysis and implementation of change. Develop and implement procedure changes.
Pay will be commensurate with applicant competencies, budget, equity and market considerations.
