Sentara Health is seeking to hire a qualified individual to join our team as a Power Plant Mechanic

Position Status: Full-time

Position Location: Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, Virginia

Position Summary:

The Power Plant Mechanic is experienced in all phases of steam generation, maintenance of boilers, chillers, and auxiliary equipment. Responsibilities include monitoring power plant equipment; reading and interpreting control circuits, schematics, diagrams, blueprints, and specifications to determine proper operation. This individual tests, maintains, and repairs power plant equipment; monitors contractor's work to ensure quality and code compliance.

This position falls under Mission Essential Personnel

Standard Working Hours: This position is for 3rd shift - 11 PM - 7 AM. Holidays and Weekend Shifts are required as scheduled. Rotating shifts, as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Refrig Recovery Cert Type II, or Universal certification required.
  • Refrig Recovery Cert Type III preferred.
  • Driver's License- .
  • Backflow Prevention Device tester's license required in most facilities.
  • High School or Trade School

Refrig Recovery Cert Type II, or Universal certification required. Refrig Recovery Cert Type III preferred. Driver's License. Backflow Prevention Device tester's license required in most facilities. For positions at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center, Power Plant Operating Engineer 3rd Class or Third Class Stationary Engineer by the District of Columbia preferred.

Qualifications:

HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (Required), TS - Trade School Graduate (Required) Driver's License - Certification - Other/National, Driver License - Certification - North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (NCDMV), Driver License - Certification - Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (VDMV), Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification Type 3 (LowPressure Appliances) - Certification - ESCO Group, Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Universal Certification - Certification - Other/National Related experience
