The Expertise Director, Digital Technology leads and enables a high performing, ever advancing, supportive team of digital technology professionals. Leads diverse client projects, focusing on the automation, deployment, monitoring, and upkeep of software solutions aligned with client specifications. This role involves close collaboration with fellow engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to enhance the quality and efficiency of software development and delivery processes. The Expertise Director is the Digital Technology team lead and staff manager responsible for the career development, training, assessment and hiring of Digital Technology team members..The Director also and oversees the JBS software development lifecycle, as well as our cloud infrastructure, currently within our AWS instances, that make our technical products available to our clients , the public, and users. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Expertise Director, Digital Technology oversees the DevOps and Development Operations framework, and their work includes the following tasks:
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science with minimum of 10 years working in Digital, DevOps, Software Development, or Infrastructure Operations, with at least 6 years of experience in Cloud DevOps, and 5 years supervisory experience. In lieu of a bachelor's degree must have minimum of 15 years of related IT work experience referenced above. Experience: Based on education level outlined above, the appropriate years of professional experience in DevOps, software development, or related role. Experience in designing and implementing software development and delivery processes using various tools and technologies, such as Jenkins, Docker, Ansible, etc. Experience in working with various environments, platforms, and services, such as cloud, on-premise, or hybrid, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc. Experience in working with agile methodologies and tools, such as Scrum, Kanban, Jira, etc. Experience in leading and managing teams responsible for software development, DevOps or, IT infrastructure management. Certification in DevOps from a Cloud Service Provider, such as AWS or Azure. Knowledge: Excellent understanding of the software development lifecycle, cloud deployments, and security requirements. Understanding of software development scripting languages to support code repositories, continuous deployments, and supporting technical and programming staff developers in expeditious deployments, patches, system maintenance, and continuous monitoring of the full stack cloud solution. Applied knowledge in the areas of design and development of cloud deployments, including continuous monitoring, and security upkeep with patches and work arounds until patches are made available. Knowledge in delivering support to developers, such as moving code to the various cloud environments. Knowledge of working with federal project staff and OCIO security groups and Technical Review Boards. Must have client-facing know-how in the area of expertise. AWS Certification preferred. Deep industry knowledge within the technology space, and stays current in this rapidly changing industry. As well as the evolving AWS services and offerings. Experience in designing, developing, managing, operating, and maintaining cloud deployments in various environments, but especially AWS (GovCloud and Commercial). Proven ability to isolate and troubleshoot technical issues and security related issues. Experience in working as a team member and supporting others in their work. Experience in managing other members of the technical team. Experience in working alone on issues and communicating all relevant information to problem stakeholders. Experience in understanding security landscapes and building strong security postures Experience in mentoring new or less senior DevOps staff, and potential to lead this growing group. Skills:
Software Proficiency: All software to support and operate and maintain full stack deployments in the cloud. Understanding of all business office applications to support software engineering tasks including AWS console, Jira, Visio, networking and troubleshooting tools, etc. LOCATION: If candidate resides within a 50-mile radius of our North Bethesda or San Mateo offices, this will be considered a hybrid role.
