Mission

Provide support to the Rock Hill Product Company engineering department with prototype assembly, testing, problem solving, and reporting while operating with EXCELLENCE! To operate with the highest standards of honesty and integrity. To provide accurate data and feedback to our customers in a timely manner and to always test & build units with the end customer in mind. We want the customer to have products we can be proud of.

Products to be prototyped and tested include diesel driven portable air compressors, generators and pumps as well as diesel and solar light towers and energy storage systems.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • As a test engineer you are responsible for:
    • The management and efficient planning of the lab infrastructure including but not limited to:
      • Creating and maintaining test procedures for standard tests as well as creating and maintaining standardized data reporting templates
      • Specify needed lab supplies
      • Guidance / planning of the activities of the technicians
      • Managing and allocating all test fixtures within the lab
    • Testing of prototype machines and components and continuously improving the quality, safety and reliability of the products within the limits of the applicable standards and master specifications
    • Generating detailed test reports and managing the test results by:
      • Providing written and accurate documentation of all test results - Excellent computer skills are a must.
      • Analyzing and assessing the measurement results to propose data driven solutions, alternatives and improvements to design.
    • Designing and documenting new test setups as required for product validation and verification.
    • Evaluating machines that come back from the field and / or series production in case the standard technical service troubleshooting procedures offer no solution.
    • Benchmarking: execute competitive product benchmark testing
    • Participate in mechanical and electromechanical design reviews and visual inspections.
    • A proficiency in problem solving related to mechanical and electrical failures/issues associated with parts, assemblies, and products is required.
    • Supporting technicians and project engineers during prototype builds.

What we expect of you?

Qualifications

  • The candidate will need to be able to communicate effectively with all levels within the organization with updates, status, etc. on projects/issues/etc. Must also be able to work with little to no supervision; Candidate must be capable of critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems. Candidate must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills that involves reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. Previous 5S experience a plus; Welding experience a plus. Some heavy lifting required. Willing to work regular and/or flexible hours, as required to meet business needs.

Supervisory Responsibility

None

Experience

  • 3-5+ years of testing experience in industrial, automotive or a related field is required.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Experience working with and designing diesel driven equipment is a plus
  • Prior experience working with Portable Energy equipment is a definite plus

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics or Mechanical Engineering or a minimum of 5 years of practical experience in a manufacturing company

Skills

  • P
  • Product testing experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with diesel driven equipment.
  • Familiarity with energy storage systems
  • Knows the value and benefits of working in a team.
  • Must have strong mechanical, electrical, and computer skills and the ability to read and understand drawings, electrical schematics, and work instructions.
  • Software skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is required.
  • Committed to accuracy and meticulous detail.
  • Understanding of product bills of material (BOM)
  • Mechanically hands on and make/rework electrical components such as wiring harnesses.
  • Must have a proven track record of positive results.
  • Must be customer focused.
  • High competence in written and spoken English is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Mechanical aptitude, detail oriented, self-motivated, disciplined, organized, strong verbal and written communication, strong computer aptitude.
