Georgia-Pacific is hiring a Process Engineer for our Wauna mill in Clatskanie, OR. Reporting to the Product & Process Improvement Leader, you'll engage in exciting mill improvement projects. You'll utilize your engineering expertise to deliver installations from concept to completion, solving problems to enhance safety, reliability, automation, and functionality of machine systems. This role challenges your technical, organizational, and leadership skills while creating long-term value for our operations partners. Our Team Our Wauna Mill, located on the Columbia River, is near the beach and mountains, offering various outdoor activities and is an hour from Portland, OR, with numerous attractions. What You Will Do * Promote a culture of safety and environmental excellence through hazard identification and risk mitigation. * Collaborate with operators, shift leaders, and asset managers to meet departmental objectives and drive continuous improvement. * Lead teams in developing and implementing safety, quality, and cost reduction initiatives that add high value. * Initiate process and equipment modifications to enhance product quality, reduce variation, and boost customer satisfaction. * Support development and implementation of capital projects focused on process improvements for optimization. * Troubleshoot and address technical issues with long-term solutions in mind, evaluating root causes. * Plan and manage process improvement projects. * Evaluate process and equipment operation, working with DCS and PLC platforms. * Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and manage a variety of technical projects. * Travel across various paper mills up to 10% of the time. Who You Are (Basic Qualifications) * Experience working in process engineering in a manufacturing industry. * Experience working in mechanical maintenance in a manufacturing industry. * Experience leading continuous improvement projects. What Will Put You Ahead * Bachelor's Degree or higher in an Engineering discipline. * Experience in pulp and paper manufacturing. * Experience working with Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
