The Junior Research Data Analyst will support biomedical research projects across the health sciences as a key member of the Center for Biostatistics. In this entry-level role, the Junior Data Analyst will perform data analysis and research tasks under supervision, contribute to more complex projects, and assist in various aspects of data management and analysis. Responsibilities include managing biomedical databases for assigned research projects, supporting the development of scientific data query mechanisms and algorithms, and integrating scientific data for basic and clinical research studies. The Junior Research Data Analyst will interact with study investigators and researchers to understand study requirements, provide technical expertise, and develop effective solutions. Working closely with biostatisticians, the Junior Research Data Analyst will create datasets for analysis using standard statistical tools, applications, methods, and techniques such as SQL, SAS, Python, and R. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with a team of scientific informatics staff to design and implement integrated application software and databases. The Junior Research Data Analyst will collect data for research using Electronic Data Capture methods, query and review data, and perform quality checks to ensure accuracy. Identifying and resolving data discrepancies in collaboration with data managers is also a key part of the role. The Junior Research Data Analyst will prepare data quality reports and assist in preparing journal articles, technical reports, and other materials for publication and presentation. Participation in project meetings to provide updates and contribute to discussions is also required. Successful candidates will have proficiency in statistical tools and programming languages, a basic understanding of biomedical research and data management, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Preferred qualifications include experience with Electronic Data Capture methods, familiarity with database design and management, and research experience. Minimum Education Required Required Qualifications The ideal candidate will have 0-2 years of relevant experience, with 1- 2 years preferred. They should have demonstrated experience managing large data sets and utilizing statistical software packages. Proficiency in SQL, XML/XSLT, database design, data integration, and database development, specifically with MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle, is required. Experience with data warehouse environments is preferred, as is prior experience in a research setting. Familiarity with utilizing EHR/EMR data for secondary use purposes is desirable. Familiarity with developing user interfaces or data infrastructure/informatics tools desired. Certification or proficiency in the EPIC Clarity data model and SAS Base and Advanced Programmer certifications are also desired. Successful completion of a background check is required, and the selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
