Senior Principal Telecommunications Engineer will research, develop, design, configure, and test a variety of equipment, components, products, and systems for commercial and industrial purposes. Supervisory and administrative responsibility over a group of engineers or functions as a technical specialist formulating and developing advanced concepts, techniques, and standards. Responsibilities include assuring effective system design, client value generation, utilization of engineering personnel and technical quality.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Work in the EPC (Engineering Procurement Construction) environment on standalone Telecom projects or Multidiscipline Engineering projects performing Telecom scope of work
  • Knowledge resource for the telecommunications field including the design of telecommunications networks including fixed cabling and wireless networks.
  • Develop network architecture design to support Process Automation and Autonomous solutions in Mining, Oil and Gas and Chemical industries.
  • Provide technical direction for the design, configuration and troubleshooting of firewalls, routers, switches and other network infrastructure (Office and Field Experience required)
  • Support development of material / labor TIC cost estimates
  • Support development of engineering / design effort hour estimates
  • Support incorporation of telecommunications equipment to vendor packages
  • Coordinate with workshare office to ensure work packages are being prepared in compliance with home office requirements
  • Provide technical direction for selection of items to be specified or purchased, ensure compliance with client requirements and standards, check specifications and requisition packages prepared by others
  • Prepare technical bid evaluations and make recommendations for purchase
  • Review vendor data to assure specifications and project requirements are met
  • Review long lead requisition package deliveries for compliance with schedule critical path
  • Develop engineering and construction scope of work documents for Telecom scope



  • Experience in mining, heavy industry, industrial operations, Oil & Gas, and Chemical industries.
  • Accomplished in system designs for access control, surveillance CCTV, fire detection systems, VoIP telephony, SCADA, preferred private LTE, public address (PA) systems and Wi-Fi systems on IP networks.
  • Knowledgeable in UIT-T, UIT-R, TIA, IEEE, ISO/IEC, and CSA standards.
  • Recognized Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in engineering or technical field from an accredited college or University preferred
  • Fluent in English read, write and speak
  • Experienced in basic and detailed engineering and implementation of high-availability network architectures for LAN/WAN networks in industrial surface and underground environments.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of Wi-Fi and Private LTE networks for industrial facilities
  • Practical experienced in network design for buildings and industrial facilities including data centers, inside and outside plant (OSP).
  • Experience in the implementation of cybersecurity planning and implementation within industrial facilities.
  • Experience in various industrial networks including Ethernet, Ethernet IP, Profibus, etc.
  • Field Experience in deployment and / or operations of telecommunication Systems
  • Field Experience in the commissioning of telecommunication Systems
  • Experience with various telecommunications and networking products required
  • Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) required
  • Experience in various phases of vendor selection and technical negotiation is preferred
  • Experience in inspection and testing of equipment items preferred
  • Experience in equipment installation requirements preferred
  • Registered Professional Engineering license preferred
