Job Title: Director, Program Management

Location: Richmond, VA or Conyers, GA

What we're looking for:

We are looking for a Director, Program Management, who will be responsible for oversight and delivery of one or more strategic programs consisting of several inter-related projects with multiple deliverables. The Director, Program Management will ensure all projects within the program(s) are clearly defined, well-executed, and communicated effectively to stakeholders, facilitators and partners. This position works shoulder to shoulder with functional leaders across the segment and enterprise to ensure alignment. The program manager may also act as project manager on one or more projects. This role will have responsibility for leading, managing and mentoring other project managers in a direct reporting structure and/or matrix structure.

What you'll be responsible for in this role:

  • Defines program scope, resource requirements, budget, timeline, deliverables, dependencies, milestones, and plans.
  • Manages the program through all phases of the lifecycle, including project initiation, project requirements, and specifications, design, construction, testing, operational readiness, training, implementation, and closure.
  • Works with key stakeholders (including customers), business partners, and project managers to elicit and ensure clear documentation of requirements, business needs, deliverables, actions, issues, risks, and decisions needed.
  • Works with project manager(s) to ensure individual project plans support the program objectives.
  • Maintains focus on program risks and project interdependence across the program life cycle, makes contingency plans to proactively address issues that pose risk to budget, schedule, and scope.
  • Develops and delivers program reporting to clearly articulate status, risks, issues, budget, decisions needed across the program and develops materials for Sr. Management.
  • Performs critical vendor management as needed to deliver program.
  • Actively partners with internal and external resources on solution development and delivery.
  • Ensures project resources are focused on critical path activities.
  • Identifies, monitors, communicates inter-dependencies across program work streams.
  • Escalates issues to ensure program scope/schedule/budget are met.
  • Manages the program budget including reporting on actuals, completing forecasting, and managing variances.
  • Develops program assessment protocols for evaluation and improvement while implementing and maintaining organizational standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance.
  • Hire, train, and be a motivating mentor to staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What are the basic qualifications?

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 8-10 years leading and successfully delivering complex projects within 3 or more areas: Manufacturing Operations, Project Management, Financial Services Operations, Applications Development, Vendor Management, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance and Support
  • Experience in Manufacturing required

What are the preferred qualifications?

  • Minimum 4 years leading and successfully delivering multiple concurrent complex programs
  • 5 years in an operational team leader or manager role

  • Successfully engages in multiple tasks/projects and deadlines simultaneously with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • The ability to evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, and break down high-level information into detail.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail evidenced through sound analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication skills; Ability to effectively communicate/drive decisions with upper management.
