Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Supports the Health Information Services Department through a variety of clerical, technical, and related support services.
  • Monitors completeness of patient records to satisfy the standards established by the funding sources, and regulatory and accreditation bodies.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality by complying with State/Federal and HIPAA laws.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Training:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

At least one year experience in Health Information Services, Medical Records, or experience in a health care administrative role (i.e., administrative assistant, administrative coordinator, etc. )

Licensure/Certification:

None

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Skills in preparing and maintaining appropriate medical record documentation.
  • Proficient in filing, record-keeping, and basic computer skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Knowledgeable of general medical terminology and psychiatric terms and diagnosis.
  • Must demonstrate a professional and personal demeanor with customers on a daily basis.
  • Knowledge of Federal/State/local regulations and HIPAA laws pertaining to patient confidentiality and release of protected health information. Familiarity with various types of documentation maintained in medical, psychiatric, or rehabilitation setting.
