Summary: The Elevator Systems Technician primary task is to maintain existing lift equipment, such as elevators and vertical lifts, located throughout the Headquarters, Defense Logistics Agency, Fort Belvoir site in good, operating condition. Lift equipment, as used throughout this document, refers to elevators and vertical lifts installed in the McNamara Complex. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, transportation, equipment, materials, tools, supplies, supervision, and management required to perform the maintenance, repair, and component replacement as required to maintain elevator, stair lift, and chair/cart lift systems in accordance with the manufacturer's original specifications, American National Standards Institute (ANSI), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on elevator and vertical lift equipment to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in lift systems, implementing necessary corrective actions.
- Conduct preventive maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Execute component replacements and system upgrades in alignment with industry best practices and safety guidelines.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance activities, and repairs performed.
- Respond to emergency service calls, identifying and resolving malfunctions to restore equipment operation promptly.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and conduct risk assessments related to lift system maintenance and operations.
- Coordinate with site management and other contractors to ensure seamless maintenance and minimal disruption to facility operations.
- Provide recommendations for system improvements, efficiency enhancements, and necessary upgrades.
- All tasks include Life Cycle Management Cyber Security.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Necessary Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of ANSI, OSHA, and other relevant industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, hand tools, and power equipment for lift system maintenance.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in elevator maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting
- Ability to pass a background investigation
- Must be a US citizen
